Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development: Design, build, and deploy high-quality, scalable features for our newsroom control system, ensuring robust and reliable performance in a high-demand broadcast environment.
- Media Technology: Leverage AWS video tools and related media technologies to optimize video processing, streaming, and content delivery.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Design and manage cloud infrastructure with a focus on scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness, using AWS services.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ensure that new features align with customer needs and product strategy.
- Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks and implement best practices for efficient cloud-based media processing.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Contribute to automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment processes to maintain code quality and ensure a seamless user experience.
- Documentation: Develop clear, thorough documentation for code, architecture, and workflows to support team knowledge sharing and onboarding.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on cloud-based applications; strong experience with AWS, particularly in media services such as AWS Elemental MediaLive, MediaConvert, or similar.
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in C#, JavaScript and TypeScript, and familiarity with modern development frameworks. Facility with the React framework.
- Cloud & DevOps Skills: Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (especially AWS), including setup, configuration, and monitoring; familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Media Processing Knowledge: Understanding of video processing, transcoding, streaming protocols, and CDN integration.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
- Collaboration & Communication: Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with newsroom systems, content management systems (CMS), or media asset management (MAM) tools. Familiarity with Grass Valley AMPP and/or Avid MediaCentral is a plus.
- Experience with microservices architecture and serverless computing.
- Knowledge of video encoding standards, streaming protocols, and best practices for optimizing video quality and performance.
